. >> leon panetta wednesday talked about drones and technology to a certain extent, talked about their importance in the battle against terrorism. he proposed a new medal saying in part "the medal provides recognition for the extraordinary achievements that directly impact on combat operations, but that do not involve acts of valor or physical risk that combat entails." what do you make of that? >> well i think that you do have to recognize these people who are associated with the control of the unmanned aero vehicles. i was in a conference yesterday -- >> but are they medal-worthy? >> lots of people get medals for achievement, they get medals for service, some are combat related, some aren't, there are also medals for valor. the diligence to work those unmanned aerial vehicles to stay fixed on the screen to bring to bear all of the intelligence, all the judgment to make the recommendations to do it right, to do it with minimal collateral damage, to go after the right target, yes, you want really good people in there, they should be recognized for that. we keep calling it drones as tho
